Airgun Shooting.
Airguns range from simple and cheap types, which are ideal for youngsters starting to shoot, up to highly sophisticated and extremely accurate target rifles used at Olympic level.
A sophisticated target air rifle.
Airguns are shot at a distance of 10 yards and always in the standing position. At the Marlow club we have a custom-built mobile airgun bench equipped with electronic target changers on which six shooters can fire at a time.
Airguns use simple lead pellets rather than powder-filled cartridges, which are a lot more expensive. For this reason airgun shooting is cheaper than other shooting disciplines and ideal for youngsters and others with a limited budget. Whatever your age, it’s an excellent way to get started in shooting. But it would be quite wrong to think of airguns as some kind of poor relation to guns firing cartridges. At competition level the sport is just as difficult, demanding and satisfying as any other kind of shooting.
Air rifle targets.
Airguns have also kept alive the sport of pistol shooting in the UK since cartridge firing pistols were banned in 1996. Rapid-fire CO2 air pistols are available which do everything that a cartridge pistol can do apart from making a loud bang!
Shooters of all ages participate at the MRPC.
There are far fewer legal restrictions placed on airguns than on other types of gun. This makes owning an airgun easy, and also means that you can come and shoot with us as a visitor without any problem.
The Marlow airgun section meets on Monday evenings. We have a wide range of air pistols and rifles that members can use. We welcome newcomers of any age, and particularly youngsters. A full programme of training and safety tuition is given to all new members.
